A TEAM of Bromsgrove-based healthcare workers has been recognised for its efforts in supporting the NHS during the peak of the pandemic at a nationwide awards ceremony.
The Theatre and Ward Team from Burcot Hall Hospital in Bromsgrove scooped the Innovative Team of the Year accolade at the Business Brilliance Awards 2021 for its work during the first wave of the Covid outbreak.
The team of Transform Hospital Group staff members consists of theatre porters, operating department practitioners, registered nurses, and healthcare assistants, who were praised for working tirelessly throughout the UK’s first lockdown to provide treatment to over 2,500 NHS patients whose appointments would otherwise have been delayed indefinitely.
Transform Hospital Group overhauled its service offering in March 2020, repurposing its facilities to provide NHS care rather than purely elective procedures, while the Theatre and Ward Team adapted to caring for an entirely different type of patient and using new equipment.
The Business Brilliance Awards, held at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel, aims to celebrate brilliance among practitioners and consultants from all over the UK in a range of fields.
Tony Veverka, CEO of Transform Hospital Group, said: “I’m incredibly proud of the team and the way they adapted so well at a time of such uncertainty to help patients who were in need.
“These colleagues are at the very frontline of what we do and it’s thanks to their incredible efforts that so many patients were treated at this time.
“They truly stepped up to play a crucial role in helping the NHS, so it’s fantastic they have been recognised in this way.”
