Bromsgrove's Basement Project gets new chair

THE BROMSGROVE-based Basement Project has a new chairman.

David Morgan was elected to the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees at the AGM, replacing outgoing Chair Lindsay Peniston.

David has a background in business management, sales, marketing and business analytics.

He has been a business consultant and was previously the International Business Director for an American supplier of high-tech communication aids for people with speech disabilities, running the UK company. He took the firm from start-up to market leader and was responsible for distribution in Europe and Australasia.




David has also been a main board director of the British Healthcare Trades Association, is currently chairman of the Speech Aid Sector and is the county organiser for the National Gardens Scheme in Worcestershire, a voluntary Ranger on the Birmingham to Worcester Canal, a member of MENSA, a Methodist Lay Preacher and a published author.

The former Bromsgrove High School pupil has spent most of his life in this area and has been a trustee and director of the Basement Project since 2011.


Outgoing chair Lindsay joined the Basement Project Board in 2013 and has a background in marketing, communications and organisational development within the

Voluntary Sector.

She was managing editor of a national charity magazine and later focused on communications, training voluntary sector organisations in marketing, communications, Governance and good practice in volunteering.

She is a former CEO of Worcester Volunteer Centre and its community transport operation and was an NCVO Investing in Volunteers Advisor for Worcestershire.

Lindsay said: “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank our people, volunteer teams, partners and funders, who have played a vital role in keeping our services going throughout the ‘stop-and-start’ pattern of lockdowns during the pandemic.

“David will now help the Basement Project as it builds on the new ways of working introduced as a result of Covid-19.”

The Basement Project supports young people under 25 who are in crisis, homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
