A STRONG-WILLED girl from Bromsgrove who has given up all sweets and chocolates for Lent has raised £200 for the Primrose Hospice.
Alice Smith, 11, from The Oakalls, took on the challenge in memory of ‘someone really special’ who was cared for by the hospice.
She said: “I decided to give up sweets and chocolate to try to be healthier and to see if I could do it.
“I also thought I could raise some money at the same time.
“It’s definitely been difficult as I have a sweet tooth.”
Mum Naomi said she was surprised when her daughter revealed what she was going to do.
“She’s been really determined though, especially as people have been so generous, and I am so proud of her,” she said.
David Burrell, chief executive at Primrose Hospice, said: “This is a wonderful story of a young girl who has shown determination and thoughtfulness throughout Lent and also managed to raise some much-needed money for Primrose Hospice.
“Well done Alice.”
Having resisted temptation, Alice is looking forward to tucking into some chocolate on Easter Sunday.
“I am most looking forward to a double chocolate chip cookie oh, and lots of Easter eggs,” added the youngster.
