OLDER people can soon enjoy some dancing, a nice chat and the chance to make new friends or just appreciate some good music at a charity event in Bromsgrove.
The Afternoon Tea Dance – from 2pm to 4pm at Parkside, Stourbridge Road on Thursday, September 5 – is being hosted by Bromsgrove District Council Chairman, Coun Sam Ammar, and Age UK BRWF.
Coun Ammar chose Age UK as her civic charity and has spoken of the importance of preventing and tackling loneliness and isolation within communities, especially with older people.
She added: “Social connections are the glue that holds communities together and the foundation upon which we build relationships, support systems, and a sense of belonging.”
Bromsgrove District Council has hosted several Afternoon Tea Dances over the years and it is hoped this event will be as popular. Tickets, which include cake and refreshments, are £5.
Visit BRWF’s charity shops in High Street and Sidemoor or email Sharon Chaplin at s.chaplin@bromsgroveandredditch. gov.uk for more information and tickets. All proceeds raised will support Age UK BRWF’s work in the community and the charity is also
seeking donations of both cakes and raffle prizes for the event. Anyone who can donate either should email [email protected] for more.
