A BROMSGROVE youth hub has been presented with a prestigious award from The High Sheriff of Worcestershire.

The accolade for Bromsgrove Youth and Community Hub recognises the organisation’s activity and contribution in enhancing the life of the community.

The hub began as a small team in 2018 in response the needs of young people in the local community, with a particular emphasis on redirecting young people away for antisocial behaviour.

Since then The Hub has grown into one of the lead youth services providers in the north or Worcestershire.

Activities include groups for music tuition, youth LGBTQ+ support, mentoring, empowerment groups in schools, and an allotment project that has developed out of some recent intergenerational work.

Two open access youth groups are run, one on a Thursday and one on a Friday.

Street based youth work is undertaken, some which is done along Bromsgrove Street Pastors.

Rev Paul Lewis, development manager and Trustee of the Hub, said: “We are delighted to be receiving this award in recognition of the difference that The Hub is making to the lives of young people in our community.”

During the award presentation, lapel pin badges were given to some of The Hub team to acknowledge their personal contribution towards the work undertaken.

Rev Paul Lewis, Sarah Mulhall, Graham Bayley and Dan Owen all received pins for their work.
