A KIND-HEARTED resident has launched an appeal for new children’s books for families in need this Christmas.

Helen said donated books would be distributed to children’s services, domestic abuse services and community centres across Worcestershire which will give them to children in need or to parents to wrap up.

She said: “Christmas can be such a huge financial burden for some families and the excitement of waking up to presents on Christmas morning is not granted to every child.

“I want to do my best to make sure as many children as possible have a present to open.

“I don’t expect people to spend a lot – it might be that they already have books at home in fantastic condition that have just never been read.”

She added people could donate one book or several.

“There are some great places to buy lovely books in Bromsgrove for bargain prices including a stall at the market with some fab children’s books for sale for as little as £1 each.”

People can leave them in a donation box on the doorstep at 20, Green Park Road, Bromsgrove or can email Helen at [email protected] to arrange a collection.
