TWO budding youth athletes from Bromsgrove have shone bright on the national stage.
Twins, Hari and Jai Vijh, who study in year 7 at Bromsgrove School are being celebrated for their sporting achievements at the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships on July 2 at Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr, Birmingham.
Hari made history by becoming the first Bromsgrove pupil ever to win a maximum three gold medals at the event. He claimed top honours in the high jump, long jump and the 4x100m relay – with two of those performances setting new national records. Hari’s High Jump result sees him ranked joint first in the UK for his age group.
Jai was equally impressive. He secured gold in the 75m Hurdles, breaking the national record in the process, and joined Hari in the victorious 4x100m relay team.
He also won silver in the long jump – a thrilling contest in which he was narrowly edged out by his brother. Jai is currently ranked second in the UK for 75m Hurdles on the Power of 10 rankings, and also holds the fastest wind-assisted time nationally.
In addition to their athletics achievements, both boys have recently signed two-year footballing contracts with Category One Academy Stoke City FC, further demonstrating their exceptional all-round sporting ability.
Bromsgrove School is immensely proud of Hari and Jai – two ‘remarkable’ young sportsmen who continue to ‘inspire with their dedication, talent, and exemplary sporting spirit.’
