Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies ready for the biggest match in their history after drawing Coventry City Women in FA Cup

BROMSGROVE Sporting Ladies are set to play the biggest match in their history when they when they host Coventry City Women in the Women’s FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

The ladies were formed in 2020 but their debut season was curtailed due to Covid-19.

In their first full season they finished a respectable fourth place in the Midwest Counties Football League.

This is the first time that Sporting Ladies have entered The FA Cup, with the draw handing them a tough opponent against a well-established Coventry team.




The momentous occasion will take place at the Victoria Ground at 2pm next Sunday, September 11.

Manager Alan Horton has issued a rallying call to Bromsgrovians to come out and support the team.


“This is a Sporting moment of history, not just for the Ladies, but for the community of Bromsgrove.

“We would love the community to turn out in numbers and give the ladies your support.”

Local girls ‘teams will be given the opportunity to be mascots for the day and a raffle for the match ball, along with other Sporting goodies, will be held.

Alan added the team had a good pre-season and would give it their all to try and make the next round.

Entry fee for the game is £1 for adults, with under 16s and over 65s going free.

All the funds raised will go to the ladies’ team to support and maintain their status at the ground.

The outside bar will be open (cash only) for drinks and other refreshments.

Bromsgrove Sporting have an exciting season ahead, starting with them hosting local rivals, Meadow Park, this Sunday with kick-off at 2pm at the Victoria Ground.

Entry to that match is free to all.
