TWO FREE events will take place in Bromsgrove this Saturday, July 22, including an arts festival and the St John’s Church open day.

Creative Fest 2023 , taking place from 10am to 10pm in Sanders Park, will feature a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, festival performances face painting, circus skills workshop, taster art, paint zone, craft tables and Rachel’s giant bubble dance.

There will also be a Creative Words Zone and a book signing with author Carmen Capuano.

Evening entertainment will be headlined by The Weekend Anthems Band and there will be performances by local artists Vintage Class Singers, Got to Sing Choir, Milo, SJU Dance, PQA Academy, Helen Person and Pete Harrington.

Food and refreshments will be available from Bromsgrove Indie Club and people are urged to take along their tables and chairs.

St John’s Church Open Day

The historic St John’s Church will be open from 11am to 3pm with the towers available to climb between 12pm and 2pm.

People will be able to enjoy views from the top of the tower and have a go at bell-ringing.

The activities are suitable for all ages and, for those wanting to find out more about the town’s past, there will be a book stall and Bromsgrove Society History Area. Historian Simon Henderson will be taking people on tours and there will be musical interludes.

Other activities in the church include creative crafts, refreshments and information on the ‘Save our Spire’ campaign.

The events have been put together as part of a collaboration by Creative Arts Showcase (CAS) and the Friends of St John’s Church.

Both events will be officially opened by Bromsgrove District Council vice-chairman, Coun Bakul Kumar and mascot BArty Bee will be buzzing between the events throughout the day.

Wythall Transport Museum is providing free bus trips in its vintage vehicles from neighbouring locations to the events – info on the CAS website and event page.

Bromsgrove Photographic Society will be judging and supporting a photographic competition of pictures captured at the events. People have two weeks from the day at St Johns or Creative Fest 23 to submit their pictures to [email protected] to win a prize.
