Bromsgrove schoolwear shop praised for 'quiet' shopping times for parents with autistic children

A BROMSGROVE school wear shop has received widespread praise after introducing designated shopping times for parents with autistic children.

S & H School Wear and Sports (formerly Bromsgrove Sports) in Church Street was recently approached by mum Vicky Bradley who wanted to bring her daughter Rachel into the shop to try on and buy her school uniform.

Her daughter is autistic and really struggles in busy shops so owners Helen and Simon Greaves suggested they came in after 5pm when the store was closed to the public.

The mum agreed and the uniform shop went well.

Rachel suggested the service be offered to other parents and carers in the same situation.

Simon said: “We know Vicky and Rachel and it was great to be able to help them out.

“We weren’t expecting the fantastic reaction we have had – it has gone down really well.

“We have now decided to offer it all year round as we know what a stressful experience shopping for uniforms can be for any parents and children, especially at this time of year, and this is proving a great way to ease that burden.

“We have had another person enquire about it and are expecting more.”
