BROMSGROVE School’s under-13 netball team lifted the IAPS National Netball Shield for just the second time in their history.

The preparatory school’s previous success came back on 2008 – years before the current under-13 team were born.

And the girls dominated the group stages, showing flair and passion in abundance, to win all but one of their games which they lost in the final few seconds.

Despite a slight loss of momentum, Bromsgrove won their group and then the quarter-final before coming away victorious in their last four clash with Godstowe to reach the final.

And the girls wrote their names into Bromsgrove School history with a win over a strong and very tall Ardingly side to claim the National Shield title.

Prep School Coaches Jenny Danks and Lynn Hadley said: “The self-belief and composure the girls displayed was beyond their years, and we could not have been any prouder of them all at the full time whistle.”

The win was an incredible achievement that will live long in the memories of all of the girls, coaches and parents.

Bromsgrove School have enjoyed plenty of recent success in the sport following the double under-18 national champions of last season, alongside the successes of the under-16, under-14 and the fantastic under-13’s.

Examples of the netball talent nurtured through the School are two very talented players; 14-year-old Jess Monthe, who is playing for England under-17, and 17-year-old Issy Eaton, who is a consistent starting goal shooter (GS) for Superleague Team Seven Stars.

The under-13 A’s are current reigning champions of the County, Regionals and now the National Finals.
