A SPORTY youngster from Bromsgrove Preparatory School ran an incredible 30k to raise funds for the NSPCC to help other children in need during these uncertain times.

Alfie Smith decided to have a go at the NSPCC challenge after his mum Rebecca saw the RUN30 event advertised.

She said: “We’d talked about lockdown and how some children would find it hard.

“Alfie decided to do something to raise money to help them.”

The eight-year-old ran 1km-a-day on a treadmill for 30 consecutive days.

Rebecca added: “The first couple of weeks were okay but it got a bit more difficult as time went on.

“Alfie had raised money for the charity and didn’t want to let his sponsors down, so he carried on and finished strong, feeling really happy and proud of himself.”

Alfie’s current total is more than £1,000 but he is hoping to raise as much as possible for the cause.
