BROMSGROVE Rugby Club has launched an appeal for wood after its bonfire was set alight by vandals – just under a month before it was due to be lit for Guy Fawkes Night.
This picture was posted by the club on Twitter following the incident at 2.30am last Friday.
A spokesperson added: “We are absolutely gutted as this is a community event that helps raise money to keep the club going and provide rugby for 400+ youngsters from the local community.”
They vowed to rebuild it once it had stopped burning and cooled down so the event could go ahead as planned.
The event itself will take place on November 5 with doors opening at 5.30pm, the bonfire being lit at 7.15pm and the fireworks at 7.45pm.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for children or £15 for a family ticket – two adults and up to three children. Under threes go free.
As well as the traditional festivities, there will also be a live music from the Ron Jeremy Band, a funfair and street food, including Kendricks Smoke and Fire, Double Dough Pizzas, Ascotts Street and BBQ and Chip Food Shack.
There is no parking on site.
