THE PARENTS of a young footballer who tragically died earlier this year have been presented with a framed football jersey in his memory, writes Neil Gordon.
Daniel Drewitt’s parents, Gemma and Jamie, were presented with the jersey by Bromsgrove Rovers AFC in memory of the youngster who tragically died in an incident at Sutton Park Pool, Birmingham in July.
Former Rovers youth team player Daniel, from Rednal, was just 16 years old when he died leaving his family devastated.
The framed jersey was from a memorial game staged last month between Colmers School and Sixth Form College, where Daniel had studied, and Rovers AFC.

The jersey was presented to Daniel’s parents by club officials on Saturday before Rovers game against Benson Cresconians at Studley Sports and Social Club, which the Greens won 9-1.
A one minute’s applause was held by the players and match officials prior to kick-off, with family and friends of Daniel present.
A spokesperson for the football club said: “Daniel’s Parents were very touched by the offer of a commemorative shirt from the charity game held in Daniel’s memory.”
“Gemma and Jamie both thanked the club for their kind offer and support.”
