Bromsgrove residents given 30 'Days of Fitness' challenge by council

A CHALLENGE has been set for Bromsgrove residents to complete a 30 ‘Days of Fitness’ challenge.

The council’s development services team is urging people to undertake at least ten minutes of exercise every day for 30 days.

It is being launched in conjunction with National Fitness Day (September 23).

Among the suggestions are going for a walk, doing a home workout with a virtual instructor, attending an exercise class or even doing some gardening.

The Starting Well team will also be sharing ideas and tips to help keep the whole family active and they will be running a competition to win a Fitness Hamper, including lots of goodies to help people stay fit at home.

Coun Phil Thomas, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said exercise was good for mental wellbeing as well as the body.

“This year has been an unusual one and I’m sure most of us have been guilty of not exercising or moving enough during lockdown.

“Now is the perfect time to change those bad habits and drop some lockdown pounds.”

The team has created a 30-day calendar for participants to keep track of what they are doing each day.
