A GROUP of Bromsgrove residents were given the perfect tonic to ‘Blue Monday’ – £1,000 each on the Postcode Lottery.
The seven residents who live in Broad Street, Sidemoor, and share the B61 8LR postcode, were given the cash on January 16 – that has been deemed the most depressing day of the year based on a formula which takes into account gloomy weather conditions, debts incurred over the festive season, the amount of time elapsed since Christmas and a lack of motivation.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: “There’s nothing like a £1,000 win to cheer up the bluest day of the year.”
And he urged anyone else who wanted to be in with a chance of winning on the People’s Postcode Lottery to sign up.
A minimum of 30 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities – more than £168million has so far been raised for good causes both in the UK and abroad.
Among them are Care Link West Midlands which was awarded £4,850 last year to develop a recreational sports programme for refugee women and girls.
