FAMILIES in Bromsgrove who have lost someone special can take a moment and light a lantern for their loved ones next weekend.
Next Saturday, December 16, Touchstones Child Bereavement Support charity is holding its short lantern walk around Morton Stanley Park giving those who have lost someone a chance to remember and reflect together.
Lanterns at the open event can be collected at 5.20pm and the walk, which is wheelchair friendly, starts at 5.45pm. There will also be shared silent remembering during the event.
Afterwards the group will head back to the car park for hot drinks and a visit from Father Christmas and his sleigh.
Vicki Quarton, Touchstones’ bereavement services director, said Christmas could be very hard when a loved one had died.
“We never forget these precious people, and a short lantern lit walk is a lovely way to remember them.
“Touchstones works to support families and children through some hard times.
“Any child can receive support when someone they love dies, and we work in all the schools in Bromsgrove and Redditch when we are needed.”
The charity provides one-to-one support and offers children the chance to meet other young people and discover they are not the only one.
“It really does make a huge difference,” added Vicki.
