THE BROMSGROVE Repair Cafe will make its second trip to St Andrew’s Hall in Charford when the latest one takes place tomorrow (Saturday, May 4).
The last time it was held there was a particularly busy session last year during the King’s Coronation weekend.
The Repair Cafe will be there for ‘one time only’ before heading back to All Saints Church Hall next month.
People are urged to bring along their clothing, household electrical appliances, phones, cherished family heirlooms, clocks, all jewellery (except gold), toys, mechanical gadgets, wooden furniture, turntables and lawnmowers in a bid to get them fixed.
With electrical appliances, residents are urged to bear in mind that many manufacturers build in obsolescence.
The cafe organisers are training their repairers on PAT testers for electrical goods to ensure everyone is kept safe.
With peak gardening season upon us, the team can sharpen tools.
One visitor to the a previous Repair Cafe said: “I cannot thank this group enough.
“There are some fantastic fixers there who repaired an old electronic toy for me.
“Me and the kids (more me to be truthful) still enjoy it now and it takes pride of place next to our modern consoles.”
Work on items is carried out in return for a donation to help keep the Repair Cafe going.
The person added: “Naturally I was more than happy to make a donation – keep up the excellent work.”
A spokesperson for the Repair Cafe, said:
“We fix anything except microwaves and pre-1980s radios with valves.”
