Bromsgrove Ramblers celebrate 50th anniversary

Bromsgrove Editorial 6th Jul, 2023   0

A POPULAR Bromsgrove walking group will celebrate their 50th anniversary by following in the footsteps of their previous members for a 30 mile rambling journey.

The celebratory journey will retrace the route of the Bromsgrove circular walk which was mapped out by previous members of Bromsgrove Ramblers during their 30th Anniversary.

The Bromsgrove Walking Group, now known as The Ramblers became members of The Ramblers Association Charity in 1973 and is still going strong after 50 years.

The Ramblers’ organised walk will take place over four days with each stage being approximately 7 miles in distance.

On Tuesday July, 4 the route will travel from Wychbold to Chaddesley Corbett.

On Thursday July, 6 walkers will travel from Chaddesley Corbett to Lydiate Ash.

On Monday July, 10 ramblers will embark to Tardebigge from Lydiate Ash whilst the final day on Wednesday July, 12 will see participants travel from Tardebigge back to Wychbold.

The Ramblers have urged anyone interested in the walk to join them at All Saints Church Hall on Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove at 9.50am every morning of the schedule before they embark on each stage of the journey.

The Ramblers organise three regular walks each month, one long (about 8-10 miles), one medium (about 4-6 miles) and one shorter which will have some points of interest and maybe a stop off at a pub or tea room (about 3-4 miles).

Day coach trips further afield are also organised twice a year, travelling to places such as the Shropshire Hills or the Peak District with a choice of two hikes.

Weekend trips away are also enjoyed by The Ramblers, who have recently visited the Lake District, North Wales and the Devon coast. Social events such as summer pub rambles, quiz nights and meals out are also organised for members.

A spokesperson said: “We invite people to join us for the chance to enjoy fresh air, amid some beautiful landscapes in good company with the opportunity to make new friends.

“Social group walking with a leader allows you to relax and enjoy your surroundings.”
