A POPULAR walking club has celebrated their 50th anniversary with a rambling trip around the entire council boundary of Bromsgrove.
Bromsgrove Ramblers completed the 50k route over 4 days in July to commemorate the groups foundation half a century ago in 1973.
Each stage of the walk saw a ‘hardy band’ of ramblers travel roughly 8 miles in distance and entailed walking from Wychbold to Lydiate Ash by way of Chaddesley Corbett and then Lydiate Ash round to Wychbold by way of Tardebigge.
The group couldn’t fault the weather but were disappointed to see many stiles along the route to be in a poor state of repair.
An anniversary party was later held at Hillscourt on Rose Hill, Lickey, where many past members joined the new flock.
Attendees at the party were encouraged to reminisce over photographs from across the years and members recounted stories of past adventures.
The event was topped off with a toast to the future of the group and the cutting of a decorated celebratory cake, complete with walking boots and rucksack, rounded off the evening.
