BROMSGROVE MP and Home Secretary has officially announced he will be standing for the leadership of the Conservative and Unionist Party and to serve as the next Prime Minister.
In a statement released exclusively to The Standard, Mr Javid said: “As my constituents, who I have been honoured to serve for almost a decade, it is fitting that you should be the first to know.
“My motivation is simple – it’s time to rebuild trust, restore unity and create new opportunities for our country.
“It is therefore critical that we bridge divides to heal our communities, renew our shared values and strengthen our society – as well as our economy – so that everyone can benefit from the opportunities a prosperous nation provides.
“I took up public service to do my best for this community and my country – a country which has done so much for me.
“As your Prime Minster, it would be my privilege to fulfill that ambition every single day.”
