THE LATEST poll results in the race to be the UK’s next Prime Minister have been announced with Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid making it through to the last four.

The Home Secretary polled 38 votes and, with Rory Stewart only managing to get 27, he was eliminated.

Favourite Boris Johnson finished top for the third round in a row with 143 votes with Jeremy Hunt in second on 54.

Michael Gove finished third with 51.

Mr Javid tweeted after the result: “Delighted to make it through to the final day of MP voting. Grateful for the support of many excellent colleagues. We can do this!”

He tweeted the hashtags #TeamSaj and #BrexitAndBeyond and paid tribute to Rory Stewart in a second tweet for the ‘positive impact he had on the campaign’.

“You’ve injected it with real humility, authenticity, and pragmatism.

“Like many I look forward to seeing the contribution you will make to our party and the country in the future,” he added.

The next vote starts at 10am tomorrow (Thursday) with a result expected at 1pm.

A second vote tomorrow will take place after that with the announcement of the final two candidates predicted to be at 6pm.

There will then be a four-week campaign and a vote among the grassroots membership of the Conservative and Unionist Party with the new Prime Minister predicted to be named on July 22.
