Bromsgrove MP praises uptick in GP appointments locally

Bromsgrove Editorial 8th Apr, 2025   0

Bradley Thomas MP has received an update on the 7,000 extra GP appointments he helped to secure during a visit to BHI Parkside, writes Mia Whitehouse.

The MP recently visited the practice to meet the management team where they discussed the ‘good uptake’ in the extra face-to-face appointments available.

This followed his campaign and letter to the Chief Executive of NHS Hertfordshire and Worcestershire back in November, urging him to increase the number of GP appointments.

In response, NHS Hertfordshire and Worcestershire added nearly 7,000 additional appointments as part of their Winter Plan for 2024/25 for residents to access over the coming year.

Bradley said: “A key part of my plan for Bromsgrove and the Villages includes improving GP access, so it was great to hear there has been a good uptake in the extra face-to-face appointments that have been made available.

“During my visit to BHI Parkside we also discussed the GP contract that the BMA negotiated with the Government.

“Given the government has just hiked up employer National Insurance contributions for GP practices, the contract really isn’t as good as the government is claiming it is.”
