BROMSGROVE men in sheds have created specially designed ‘Twiddle Boards’ to provide relief for dementia sufferers experiencing restlessness and discomfort in their hands with the help of local chartered accountants Ormerod Rutter last week.
The boards were presented at a coffee morning last Friday as part of a Dementia Action Week VIP event hosted by Age UK Bromsgrove Redditch and Wyre Forest and Home Instead at Amphlett Hall.
The event also gave visitors access to information and advice, and the chance to talk about dementia and chat over tea or coffee.
Twiddle boards provide sensory stimulation and can help calm restless hands for those living with dementia, as well as help improve fine motor skills, dexterity, and coordination.
Men in Sheds aims to tackle loneliness and social isolation in older men after retirement.
Ormerod Rutter is one of the Shed Share Scheme sponsors and raises funds to support the Bromsgrove group.
