Bromsgrove man sets up petition asking for better sexual health services in Worcestershire

A BROMSGROVE 23-year-old has decided to take matters into his own hands by setting up a petition asking for better sexual health services in Worcestershire.

Joshua Matheson is seeking the public’s support after becoming frustrated with waiting three weeks for an appointment.

“The nurses in Worcestershire are fantastic but they are struggling to manage because they have to travel to different sites across the county due to a lack of staff.”

A number of sexual health services currently operate across Worcestershire.

This includes the John Anthony Centre, Arrowside Unit, Smallwood House, Droitwich Medical Centre and Bromsgrove Princess of Wales Community Hospital.

“I’ve noticed that in all of these sites there is typically only two days available to book an appointment for a sexual health check.

“The lack of staff is putting a massive strain on the service itself and I believe it is because NHS Worcestershire continue to cut their budget year on year.”

Joshua said he was worried about other people who may have serious health problems, and have to wait weeks to see anyone.

The petition has reached 35 signatures in a few days but Joshua is hoping to reach thousands if he is to arrange a meeting with health commissioners to get his points across.

“It’s a taboo subject and not many people want to talk about it but it’s true – we need better funding for our sexual health services.”

Visit to help Joshua reach his goal.
