MORE than £700 has been raised by the Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats to help two town charities support the community.
The cash will go to the foodbank at NewStarts in Aston Fields and to the Basement Project which helps young people, aged between 16 and 25, who are homeless or facing homelessness.
Bromsgrove Lib Dem chair Josh Robinson appealed to the party’s members and councillors to join him in the fund-raising and they all gave generously.
He said: “As a local party we are continuing to try and help our local community in as many ways as possible.
“In these uncertain times demand is growing for these services by the day.”
The cash will be split equally between the two causes.
Fellow Bromsgrove Lib Dem activist Sam Evans added it was vital everybody did what they could.
“Both the Basement Project and NewStarts have a huge positive effect locally, collecting food and supplies for those in need.
“During these tough times there is extra demand on local charities and the community spirit they inspire is heart-warming.”
