A BROMSGROVE actor is set to star as late Beatles icon George Harrison in a upcoming biopic about the Fab Four’s manager, Brian Epstein.

Leo Harvey-Elledge, a 23-year-old former student of Bromsgrove South High School, is portraying The Beatles’ iconic lead guitarist in the blockbuster, Midas Man, set to release on Amazon Prime Video on October 30.

The film lifts the curtain on the band’s meteoric rise to stardom from the lesser told perspective of the man who discovered them. The Beatles’ manager, Brian Epstein, is portrayed by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Queens Gambit, Bodies).

Discussing his role in Midas Man, Leo told the Standard: “It’s imposter syndrome kind of stuff, but once you get in the swing of it, it’s such a nice working environment.

“I developed a new appreciation for George Harrison after playing him. Initially John Lennon had been my favourite but I learned so much about George’s introspective nature.

“He has became my favourite and is by far the most interesting to me.”

The Bromsgrove born actor, who now lives in Liverpool, made his screen debut portraying Oasis’ legendary frontman, Liam Gallagher, in Creation Stories (2021).

Despite having no prior acting experience, he landed the role to play Liam after impressing casting directors with his guitar playing and rock ‘n’ roll persona in a self-taped audition and screen test.

Leo even met Liam on set during the film in 2021, where the Oasis star gave the budding actor his sunglasses straight off his head. The Bromsgrove lad is set to star as Liam Gallagher again in Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, releasing on Christmas Day 2024.

Midas Man, written by Brigit Grant and directed by Joe Stephenson, will premiere at FACT Liverpool – an art gallery and cinema in the birthplace of The Beatles – on October 29.

To celebrate the launch of the film, Leo will join his co-stars at Liverpool’s iconic Cavern Club – where Brian Epstein first met the band in 1961 – as the actors portray John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr one last time in a live music tribute.

The icon playing actor added: “I can’t wait for the film to come out, it’s been a long time coming.”

Other notable features in the film include Eddie Marsden (The Worlds End), Ed Speelers (Downton Abbey, You), Emily Watson (Chernobyl, Kingsman: The Golden Circle), British comic Eddie Izzard, and US television host and comedian, Jay Leno.

Leo’s mother, Jane Elledge, told the Standard: “It’s great to see him finding something he loves to do, playing music and portraying such iconic musicians.”
