Bromsgrove Hotshots and Redditch Town FC join forces for Primrose Hospice and to remember Amy

JUST another 1,000km to go…..

If that doesn’t make you feel exhausted just reading it, it’s only a fraction of the fund-raising challenge that Hotshots netball team and Redditch Town FC have set themselves – and it’s all to raise money for Primrose Hospice.

The combined teams have pledged to run or walk 2,000km, do 2,000 squats, 2,000 sit-ups, 2,000 press ups, score 2,000 successful netball shots and 2,000 keepy uppies.

All to be done by the end of May.

And motivation is high too as it’s all in aid of former Hotshots player Amy Redhead from Bromsgrove who tragically died in 2018 after battling liver and bowel cancer.

And the Primrose is also special to Redditch Town as a player’s mum spent her last few precious days there comforted by hospice staff.

Since Amy’s passing the Hotshots have held a mixed fund-raising tournament, but with sport on hold due to the pandemic, exhausting themselves and staying fit while still raising money for a great cause was what they came up with.

“We came up with the fitness challenge to keep us active and thought the two teams could do it together,” said organiser Laura Adams.

“The spirit has been fantastic and Primrose have really got behind us too – it’s been fantastic and with luck we should be on schedule to finish by the deadline.

“We have all been affected in some way by cancer, so this we are completing this challenge to give something back and honour those who have been supported by this wonderful charity.”

The teams have set a target of £400 and are inching closer with £315 already in the bag.
