Bromsgrove Hockey Club launches search for new players as sport starts up again after lockdown

A SEARCH for new faces has been launched by Bromsgrove Hockey Club which has now resumed training for all ages.

The club has been part of England Hockey’s scheme to re-introduce players back to the sport safely which began in August with groups of six adults allowed to train, as long as they maintained social distancing and adhered to the careful guidance around pitch use and player conduct.

Following the success last month, the national governing sports body has announced groups of up to 30 players can participate in training and match play as long as additional safeguards are enforced.

Club Chairman Andy Potter said: “We are excited at the prospect of welcoming new faces this season, given the surge in popularity for outdoor recreation as a result of the pandemic.

“We expect many parents will be interested in our youth program as an extracurricular activity for children, to complement starting back at schools.”

“The club is lucky to manage our own facility in Aston Fields, Bromsgrove and we have a fantastic volunteer committee which has helped prepare us for the return of regular hockey training and matches being played here under new guidelines.”

Bromsgrove offers training opportunities for Boys and Girls from reception age through to 16 years old, as well as Adults training for players aged 13 and over.

They have six men’s and six women’s squads of varying abilities, including two developmental teams for more novice players to gain confidence with skills and ease into match-play.

Due to the important regulations to make the sport safe for all, anyone interested in participating with Bromsgrove Hockey Club must first register their interest with the appropriate club contact.

For under 18 enquiries, parents or guardians may contact the club’s new player officer by emailing the child’s name and date of birth to [email protected] .

Applicants will then be contacted with information on registration with the club and England Hockey in line with new Covid-19 procedures,

The club will also advise you on training times and costs (the first session is free).
