A BROMSGROVE firm has floored the competition after being named Britain’s ‘Small Family Business of the Year’, writes Eve Watson.
Falcon Contract Flooring scooped the top prize in its category at the national Family Business United awards at London’s Mayfair Hotel, despite being up against some firms with nearly 500 employees.
The Cartwright Road business supplies and fits anything from carpets to vinyl and everything else in between at commercial level.
In recent years it has landed some huge contracts including being the preferred supplier for the Premier Inn and Travelodge hotel chains.
It also provides flooring for children’s nurseries and hospitals, a huge achievement given the business was started by the Hassall family in the 1980s with just two men and a van.
Falcon CEO Charles Hallsall, aged 33, said: “Winning the award is an incredibly proud moment and an absolute shock.
“We all work hard as a team to make Falcon a success and it means the world to us to have this nationally recognised.”
The team, including several family members who work there, also each received a glass trophy and a certificate.
Charles added: “It’s not the first time we have won an award but this is definitely the best feeling yet.”
“Last time I received the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ but, with our emphasis of Falcon being very much team-based, I am thrilled everyone has been recognised this time.”
