THE EVENTS in this year’s Bromsgrove Festival are coming thick and fast with a packed day to suit all tastes on Saturday.
As well as Bromsgrove Carnival and the Timberhonger 10K taking place, the Moseley Clarinet Ensemble will perform at 11am at St Chad’s Church in Rubery as part of the ‘Bite Sized Classics Ensemble’.

Also tomorrow – at 7.30pm at Avoncroft Arts Centre, Redditch Road, Stoke Heath – Avoncroft Folk Dance Group will hold a traditional English Barn Dance, led by caller Roger Middleton and with music provided by Cadenza.
Shipston Town Band will be next up at the Sanders Park Jubilee Bandstand from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Sunday, July 16. The latest event in Bromsgrove District Council’s Bands in the Park series is free and people are urged to take along their chairs or blankets, along with a picnic.
Avoncroft Museum’s Guesten Hall will host The Shepherd on the Rock – the latest Festive Classics concert – at midday on Wednesday, July 19. Tom Caldecote (clarinet) and Bridget Kerrison (soprano) will perform solos and duets with piano accompaniment, including, of course, Schubert’s iconic ‘Shepherd on the Rock.

Translations – the debut feature film from US filmmaker Keith Kopp which explores love between two people facing mental health challenges – will be screened at Fairfield Village Hall, Stourbridge Road, at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 19.

‘Blasted Politicians’ will be the subject of the latest WORDS event at Avoncroft Museum’s Guesten Hall at 11am next Friday, July 21.
The presentation by Quentin Letts – Parliamentary sketch writer for The Times, Sunday Times theatre critic and previous writer for the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail – promises a very amusing and informative morning.
