EMPLOYEES at Bromsgrove District Housing Trust have given one day or 7.5 hours towards supporting good causes throughout 2022.

The time donation was part of BDHT’s 1,000 Hours charity campaign.

The team has had a busy year, helping communities through a wide range of projects.

‘The power of an hour’ campaign saw employees visit the trust’s Independent Living Schemes to chat to customers over tea or coffee and cake to help combat loneliness.

This continued with supporting fund-raising at the Primrose fete, working with the Basement Project for picnic in the park and renovating an area of Charford First School waste ground to create a rainbow garden.

Other projects included tree planning with the county council and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and BDHT’s annual family fun days. The team also helped out at the Dodford Children’s Farm and held Macmillan cake sales, children’s toy collection Christmas food hamper distributions with NewStarts.

Bosses said the campaign exceeded expectations with the total figure of hours complete finishing at 1,022 hours.

Samantha Powell, HR officer at BDHT, said: “The 1,000 hours initiative has taken our team on a fantastic journey.

“We are incredibly proud to have given back to local organisations which play such a vital role in the community.

“Not only has this helped worthy causes, but our staff have also united in such a strong way and we have really developed as a team.”

She added, after seeing the positive impact created, everyone involved was looking forward to continuing the campaign for years to come.

BDHT is already looking for similar projects its employees could get involved in, supplying labour.

The application process will be launched in the coming months.
