TRIVIA whizzes from across Bromsgrove tested their skills at a quiz to raise funds for The Basement Project, writes James Reid.
Among those taking part in the event at Bromsgrove Golf Centre were residents and councillors.
A total of 12 teams went head-to-head. Many were formed from local businesses, two from The Basement Project and even a Court Leet team tested their mettle.
Councillors Rob Hunter, Josh Robinson, Sam Ammar, and James Clarke along with the Mayor of Redditch and consort and the CEO of The Basement Project were all in the line-up.
A total of £569 was raised to help fund the continued support the Basement Project offers to young people in the district who are homeless or facing homelessness.
The event was organised by Bromsgrove District Council chairman, Coun Sam Evans, who has selected The Basement as his chosen charity for his year of office. He thanked all involved in making it such a successful evening.
“The Basement Project provides vital care and support Bromsgrove and I am very proud it is my chosen charity for my term as chairman,” said Coun Evans.
As well as the quiz, the coffers were boosted further by a raffle which featured prizes kindly donated by town businesses.
CEO of The Basement Project, Caleb Mallard, said he was grateful the chairman had chosen the charity.
He thanked Coun Evans, describing the evening as ‘great fun with some challenging quiz rounds’, adding: “Our team won’t be applying for Mastermind anytime soon.”
A team from Ormerod Rutter was crowned as the evening’s winners and were awarded chocolates and some House of Commons alcohol kindly donated by Bromsgrove MP Bradley Thomas.
