BROMSGROVE Conservative Association has started its search to find its parliamentary candidate for the next general election.
Current MP Sajid Javid, who has represented Bromsgrove constituency since 2010, announced in December he would be standing down at the end of this term.
As the party begins the selection process, Nick White, the Deputy Chairman Political and Chairman of the Selection Committee, paid tribute to Mr Javid.
He said: “Sajid has been a fantastic representative for Bromsgrove as well as a senior member of government, including as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Home Secretary.
“Bromsgrove Conservative Association recognises the significance of selecting a candidate who will wholeheartedly serve the constituents, address local concerns, and champion the values and vision of the Conservative Party.
“A rigorous selection process will ensure that the chosen candidate is not only well-equipped to meet the challenges of public office but is also attuned to the needs of the Bromsgrove constituency.”
The selection process will be conducted over the next few months and the association said it was confident it would be able to ‘identify an exceptional candidate who would uphold the values of the Conservative Party and serve as a strong voice for the Bromsgrove community’.
The general election is expected to take place next year.
