THE LEADER of Wychavon District Council Bradley Thomas has been selected by the Bromsgrove Conservative Association (BCA) at its candidate for the next general election.

It comes as current Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid announced he would be standing down at the end of this term.

Mr Thomas works in the energy sector, focusing on creating high-skilled, well-paid jobs aimed at improving the UK’s energy security and long-term national prosperity.

The BCA said: “With a proven track record of dedicated service and exceptional leadership within our party, Bradley’s candidacy brings a wealth of experience and a vision that resonates with the values of the people of Bromsgrove.

“A Worcestershire native, Bradley has been in public service for the last decade, demonstrating unwavering commitment and passion for serving the community.”

“Under his leadership, Wychavon District Council has achieved remarkable milestones, including six years of frozen council tax without compromising essential services, the third lowest in the country for a district council.”

It added his commitment to supporting local priorities had seen over £28million invested in projects that enhanced sports and leisure facilities, revitalised town centres, and stimulated the local economy, benefiting numerous businesses and residents.

The BCA also highlighted his dedication to conservation, including initiating a major tree planting project with the Heart of England Forest and neighbouring councils, restoring habitat, creating new pollinator sites and working to reduce Wychavon’s carbon emissions by 22 per cent.

Mr Thomas’ priorities

Among his priorities are delivering well-paid jobs and fostering a thriving business environment, ensuring access to healthcare for all, providing a world-class education for children, revitalising town centres,

safeguarding the environment, and promoting policies for a small state.

Mr Thomas said he was humbled to be selected and described following in the footsteps of Mr Javid as ‘an immense privilege’.

“Born and raised here in Worcestershire, the prosperity and well-being of Bromsgrove are at the heart of my dedication.

“I vow to work tirelessly to deliver for the town centre and every single village and community.

“I am committed to attracting private investment and supporting local entrepreneurs and councillors as we revitalise our high streets creating vibrant communities that thrive and flourish.”

He added Bromsgrove’s potential went beyond the town centre and he would focus on delivering economic prosperity throughout the entire constituency, ensuring every community receives the attention and support it deserved.

“Addressing pressing concerns such as traffic congestion and air pollution is a top priority.

“If elected, I will work tirelessly to improve transport infrastructure and implement pragmatic solutions, making our area more accessible and environmentally sustainable.

“With a significant rural hinterland, I will stand up for farmers and rural communities so we all have a bright future.

“Together, we’ll tackle challenges head-on, revitalising our town centres, delivering beautiful housing that doesn’t destroy the environment, and implementing practical traffic solutions, leaving no stone unturned in our pursuit of progress,”

And he added he would be a strong champion for Bromsgrove by amplifying the district’s voice in Westminster while standing up for residents, their prosperity and the environment.
