Bromsgrove community champion launches coat collection to keep the homeless warm this winter

A KIND-HEARTED community champion from Bromsgrove is collecting coats and other clothing items to keep the homeless warm this Christmas.

Alan Gormley, who runs the town’s Walking Sports Hub, noticed the campaign being run by the Big Issue on Twitter and decided to set a drive up locally.

He said: “I just had to do something.

“The Coats4Streets phrase has caught people’s imagination and I’ve now got promises for more than 20 coats.

“I’m also being asked if I need jumpers, scarves etc too.”

He will be looking to donate the collection primarily to charities which deal with the homeless and any left over will go to other local charities with a need.

People can drop donations in Alan’s porch, 32 Stourbridge Road, Fairfield, email him at alan@sport- edge.co.uk or call him on 07731 369942.

He added: “This is all of of the planned evolution of Bromsgrove Walking Sports Centre into a hub that provides a wider service to our local communities.”
