Bromsgrove Community Arts' rallying call for volunteers to help support the shows coming to Artrix

A RALLYING call has been made for volunteers to come forward and support the shows being put on at Artrix following the deal between the venue’s holding trust and The Core.

The newly formed Bromsgrove Community Arts (BCA) – a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) – will be co-ordinating The Core @ Artrix’s front of house and bar staff volunteers.

We reported on our website yesterday and on the front of today’s paper how, after RAAC concrete was discovered in the roof above The Core’s auditorium, a deal was struck for some shows to be moved to Artrix.

So far the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime, due to start on December 15, will take place at Artrix and bosses at The Core are speaking to other production groups, including amateur dramatics companies, to ask if they want to move their shows to the Bromsgrove venue.

The BCA is aimed at provide venues and facilities within Bromsgrove for groups to utilise, focusing on a community and volunteer-led approach.

The group’s trustees are prominent individuals from the arts world in Bromsgrove.

Why the BCA was set up

The group, under the chairship of Kyle Daisley, was started in the summer. It followed the call from the Artrix Holding Trust for a new operational arm for the much loved Artrix arts centre.

Mr Daisley said “We are thrilled to be providing crucial support to The Core Theatre as they move their shows to Artrix.

“We are delighted Artrix was able to step up and offer this support at such a difficult time for the Solihull venue.

“With a solid team and a group of keen volunteers I am confident that this residency will be a success, and what a joy it is to see the doors of our much loved local theatre opening again.”

Anyone wishing to join the volunteer team can register their interest via https://forms.office.com/r/GMnSgxMKWP or by emailing [email protected]
