BROMSGROVE’S Christmas Markets, organised by the Friends of St John’s, return to the High Street on Friday and Saturday (November 17 and 18), ahead of Saturday’s switch-on.

Stalls will be at the top end of town, outside The Old Post Office and Argos and residents are urged to go along and support local traders, charities and entertainers.

There will be plenty of lovely home-made gifts, produce and decorations on both days, including pre-loved jeans by The Denim Upcycler, personalised pet gifts from My Little Pink Shed, locally produced apple juice and honey from Fruitfields Orchard, jewellery from Romsley Gems, winter wreaths and dried fruit decorations from Panache Gifts, decorative vases and sewn goods from Charming Creations.

My Treasure Toys will be selling vegan wooden homewares, Bohoe Joes Arts and Crafts will be showcasing their upcycled decorations and jewellery, Dragonfly Crafts will have crystals, jewellery, candles and clothing for sale and Lulu in Stitches’ stall will contain handbags and decorations.

Charity stalls

Charity stalls include Cancer Research UK, the crafters from St Basils and the fund-raising team from St John’s church.

On Friday, the students from Chadsgrove College will be selling gifts and stocking they have been making and entertaining shoppers with a selection of festive songs at around 1.30pm.

And the team from Amber Support Services will sell crafts they have made using recycled pallets.

Running alongside the regular High Street markets, the Christmas stalls will be open from 9am to 4pm today and between 9am and 6pm tomorrow.

The Christmas lights switch-on

A full day of entertainment is in store on Saturday with the Christmas lights switch-on.

The markets will be buzzing all day with fairground rides and performances from local choirs, including Bromsgrove Community Choir, Got2Sing and Rock Choir, along with music from local singers, Sounds of Steel and Vintage Class Singers who will perform the ever-popular countdown to the switch-on.

There will be street entertainers along the High Street with Steve Kaos joining the fun in the Christmas Markets, plus street food burgers and Betty’s Waffles.

Blackwell Concert Band will perform and there will be festive characters, including Christmas elves and fairies, to meet.

Bromsgrove District Council chairman, Coun Sam Ammar will push the plunger at 5pm to illuminate the town.

We will have Blackwell Concert Band performing, as well as some festive characters to meet, including Christmas elves and fairies.
