A BROMSGROVE chef is celebrating after reaching the final round of Care UK’s Chef of the Year competition.

Lorraine Robinson, who works at Chandler Court care home, secured her place by preparing a two-course lunch for a panel of judges.

The main course was sea bream served with a celeriac and chorizo sauce, roasted butternut squash, peppers, steamed carrots and courgette batons.

For dessert, Lorraine made a warm honey and fig tart served with a cheesy chocolate cream.

After being named one of four finalists, she said: “I am delighted that my cooking has been praised by the judges.

“The level of competition was really high this year, with some impressive skills on display.

But I already knew my dishes were very popular with the residents of Chandler Court.”

Lorraine says she loves experimenting and creating new dishes for the residents at the Recreation Road care home to enjoy.

Each dish was scored on its presentation, nutrition, use of products, taste and texture.

The four finalists have been competing to be crowned Care UK’s Chef of the Year.

Joanne Gill, home manager at Chandler Court, added: “The competition is a brilliant opportunity for the chefs at Care UK to showcase their skills and expertise.

“We are very lucky to count Lorraine as one of our team members and everyone is thrilled to see her culinary talent being recognised.

“We all have our fingers crossed that she will walk away as the winner.”
