A BROMSGROVE care home welcomed a drag queen when it held its own Pride celebration, writes Lucy Belfield.
Burcot Grange and Lodge was visited by Rusty Kate at the end of last month.
The staff dressed up with Pride face paint and glitter to get into the spirit of the day and a themed party was held with plenty of costumes and colourful cakes, along with cocktails and mocktails for the residents to enjoy.
Pride flag head boppers were handed out and balloons and bunting were hung throughout the entertainment room.
The residents enjoyed the Rusty Kate’s music and her set included a range of popular classics, such as Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ to Michael Buble’s ‘Feeling good’.
The care home’s team also added rainbow hearts onto their name badges and the props and colourful decorations were used to show the care home embracing the LGBTQ+ community.
The home’s general manager Vicky Osborne said: “Our pride celebration is demonstrable of our commitment to inclusivity and creating a joyous atmosphere for all of our residents.”
