Bromsgrove car park to partially close for improvements

Bromsgrove Editorial 3rd Sep, 2023   0

DRIVERS are being warned that a popular Bromsgrove car park will be partially closed for almost a week in September.

Recreation Road Car Park, which serves both town centre and Asda shoppers, is set to undergo improvements later this month to ensure it is safer and more efficient for all users.

The improvement works start on September 18 and run for six days.

During this period, the car park will be temporarily closed in phases to facilitate the resurfacing process.

To ensure the safety and convenience of all users, diversions will be clearly marked, guiding motorists to alternative access and exit routes.

The car park will remain partially open, with the council’s contractors Kelbec implementing a phased closure to allow continued usage.

However, it is important for motorists to note that it may be dusty and noisy and, due to the reduced number of available spaces, the car park may experience higher-than-usual demand.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of this work and the length of time it will take, it was not cost-effective or appropriate to complete the works overnight.

Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, Coun Peter Whittaker, said: “These improvement works are part of our commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities that meet the needs of our residents.

“We recognise the significance of Recreation Road Car Park to our community and its visitors, so it is vital these works take place to ensure longevity.

“We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience caused but the outcome will be worthwhile for all.”

In addition to the resurfacing works, minor enhancements will also be carried out in the car park from Monday, September 4, to September 17.

These additional works are not expected to cause significant disruption to car park users.

These works are the latest in the council’s car park improvement scheme after recent upgrades across the district including new lighting, electric charging points, new payment options and machines and resurfacing works.
