A POPULAR female Bromsgrove butcher is through to the final of a prestigious national competition.
Michelle Holsey, who co-owns Butcher’s Block in Bromsgrove High Street, has made the final cut in this year’s Women In Meat Industry Awards.
Michelle has worked in the industry for around 25 years and is described in the awards nomination as a ‘a super hard-working person who is fantastic with the customers’.
The citation added: “Nothing is too much trouble and she caters for everybody’s needs.”
In one of several nominations received, a proposer said: “Michelle creates a warm and friendly environment in her lovely shop as well as making sure her customers are always looked after with the best quality meat.”
The winner of each category will be announced at a glittering five-star ceremony taking place in London this coming November.
Category winners will then be included in the shortlist for the overall Meat Businesswoman of the Year Award which will also be announced on the night.
This year’s event attracted a record number of votes with 14,000 being submitted across 11 categories.
It meant there were more candidates shortlisted than ever before and a record number of nominations.
Joanna Thomson from Meat Management magazine, which organises and stages the annual awards, said: “This really is an amazing initiative and we are all so excited about the way people have responded.
“This year it is clear that the Women In Meat Industry Awards continues to go from strength to strength and the event will be a brilliant occasion.
“The Women In Meat Industry Awards really has caught the imagination of the industry since we launched it back in 2018.”
Celebrity chef, author and TV Broadcaster Rachel Allen will host the awards ceremony in November.
