A BROMSGROVE beauty has been crowned Miss Birmingham and will go on to represent the city at the Miss England finals in the summer.

Amy Jones, a former South Bromsgrove High School student, has competed in pageants for three years and beat 25 others to the sought-after title at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre on Saturday.

The 21-year-old also picked up the accolade of ‘Miss Intellect Birmingham 2018’ for the second time.

Amy, who works at a nursery while she is studying beauty therapy, raised funds for homeless charity Crisis in preparation for the competition and once slept on the streets to raise awareness of the cause.

“It feels amazing to be crowned Miss Birmingham, I still can’t believe it.

“Homelessness is a huge problem in Birmingham and in other areas across the UK.

“It’s a cause I am very passionate about and even as a young child it has always troubled me.

“I am grateful that my title will give me a platform to raise awareness and to support other charities.”

Ahead of the Miss England finals this summer, Amy is hoping to organise a fundraising ball in aid of

‘Beauty with a Purpose’, the Miss World charity for disadvantaged children.
