A SOFTWARE consultant from Bromsgrove has turned his nightmares and other vivid dreams into a terrifying five-star rated debut novel.
Thomas Guise has spent more than a decade compiling notes of his dreams, following regular disturbing nights.
And much of what kept his mind active during the witching hours has found its way into the pages of Echoes of the East.
The 34-year-old said: “I have had a habit of writing my dreams down for many years as I’ve always found them to be quite entertainingly vivid.
“Prior to starting to write Echoes of the East I had a scary amount of scattered notes, short snippets and events jotted down, along with the extensive log of nightmares and other dreams I’ve had over the years.
“Echoes of the East is the first project I have seen through to completion when it comes to writing – so far, that is.”
Echoes of the East is a first-person horror novel set within a post-apocalyptic landscape.
Mysterious explosions lead two loyal soldiers into a forbidden wasteland in search of their sniper comrade – but what they encounter goes well beyond nightmares.
Thomas takes all the classic hallmarks of classical horror fiction and darkens them beyond recognition with his unique and relentless taste for the unsavoury.
Perfectly paced with building tension and terrifying twists, this masterful thriller explores moral boundaries and the depths humanity will sink to in order to survive.
Thomas, who admits Stephen King was his gateway into a horror addiction, added: “What begins as a rescue mission transforms into a nightmarish journey of discovery when they encounter horrors far worse than the undead hordes that plague their world.
“As they push deeper into this blood-soaked territory, they forge uneasy alliances with other survivors whilst uncovering dark secrets that challenge everything they thought they knew about survival in this brutal landscape.
“Echoes of the East is written in the first person, to hopefully absorb the reader into the story as the protagonist.”
Thomas has built up his software development business over the past 10 years and England’s air ambulance service among his clients.
Although he has no plans for a sequel to his first book, he is working on drafts of similar frightening novels.
