THE BROMSGROVE and Redditch Sea Cadets are looking for new members to join them this year.

The unit based In Park Farm industrial estate currently has 50 cadets between the ages of ten and 18 and parades on a Monday and Thursday, from 6.45pm until 9.15pm.

The unit offers young people the chance to participate in activities, such as kayaking, learn engineering skills and gain BTECs and other qualifications. The Bromsgrove and Redditch group has also been awarded a Burgee standard, which means the Royal Navy has deemed it one of the best units in the country.

Sub Lt James Sanders RNR, Commanding officer said: “2017 was another great year for TS KINGFISHER.

“We had three cadets go overseas, our cadets gained 70 hours on the water on average and our cadets have gained hundreds of qualifications.

“It would be great to see more young people with us to help grow our team.”

Anyone aged 12 to 18 who is interested in joining can email [email protected] or visit www.sea-cadets.org for more information.
