THE Bromsgrove and District Football League will fold at the end of the current season having been in operation for 120 years.
The league dates back to 1902 and consists of three divisions with 25 teams and 763 registered players.
However, the league has been unable to fill the position of General Secretary, currently held by Simon Burgess who is departing this June after 21 years of service.
We helped run an appeal to try and find a successor to Burgess in November but it would appear no suitable candidates have come forward for the role.
Local club Fairfield Villa tweeted: “Sad news to hear that the Bromsgrove and District football league is to fold.
“Simon Burgess and his committee have done a fantastic job for so long.
“Another nail in the coffin of Sunday football.”
