A BROMSGROVE restaurant owner was star-struck after former Nottingham Forest and Everton manager Sean Dyche stopped by for a meal.

Staff at the Viceroy Bromsgrove regularly host England under-21 coach Aidy Boothroyd, and he was so impressed that on Monday (March 23) he brought his friend, ex-Premier League boss Dyche, to try the food for himself.

Suhad Miah, who is co-owner of the restaurant on Bromsgrove High Street, sat down and greeted Dyche, Boothroyd and the other three guests.

He told the Standard: “It was shocking in the best of ways.

“He knew I was star-struck.

“I offered him the corner table, right towards the back of the restaurant, so he can have his privacy.

“He sat with his back to the customers, but some of them picked up who he was when they were coming back from the toilets.”

Dyche’s order included a chicken tikka balti, lamb railway, mixed platters to share, onion bhajis and three kinds of naan bread.

He also insisted on having garlic fried rice.

Suhad added: “Sean said that Aidy had been singing our praises, so the food better be good, and afterwards he said he really enjoyed his meal.

“We don’t serve alcohol, so they brought their own.

“He was a very nice, humble, lovely, funny guy, his persona on TV is completely different to how he is.

“He said he will be back, so hopefully we will see him again soon.”

The Viceroy opened two years ago with regulars including Mark Bellingham, father to football superstars Jude and Jobe.

Suhad said that since posting a picture of him and Dyche on Facebook, he has been inundated with bookings.
