BOSSES at Rubery’s Jack’s store have vowed to clean up the car park and area around the supermarket after receiving complaints from those living nearby and shopping there.

One resident who contacted The Standard said: “The area is very overgrown, there are weeds everywhere and litter, including discarded cans and cigarette ends.

“It all looks very unsightly and was never like this when it was a Tesco Metro.

“I have been told that it was the council’s responsibility but surely it was also the council’s responsibility when it was a Tesco.”

Now a Jack’s spokesperson said colleagues at the store would be undertaking a litter-pick in the car park and an arrangement was being made for the grounds maintenance team to cut the overgrown grass.

A Jack’s spokesperson said: “We will continue to work to prevent littering on our site.

“We take our responsibilities as a good neighbour very seriously, including ensuring that we maintain a clean and tidy environment for customers in our car parks.”
