BEST READ STORIES OF 2022 - More than 70 firefighters battled blaze at Bromsgrove's Kev's Coaches

ANOTHER of the best-read stories of 2022 was the devastating fire at Kev’s Coaches in Bromsgrove which broke out in March.

The blaze ripped through the depot near Lydiate Ash, engulfing 15 of the firm’s fleet.

At its height, more than 70 firefighters battled the blaze – both from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue (Bromsgrove, Redditch, Wyre Forest, Kidderminster, Evesham, Worcester and Leominster) and West Midlands Fire Service (Northfield, Kings Norton and Woodgate).

The company praised the fire services for their prompt response.

An investigation found the blaze started accidentally.

Having lost so many vehicles, other bus operators loaned buses and coaches to Kev’s so it could continue to run its services.

The tenacious firm has since battled back with its own fleet again.
