NEARLY £1,000 was raised at a charitable belly dance hafla at Bridley Moor and Batchley Social Club last month for Socks and Chocs.

The hafla – a performance where dancers come together to perform for their family and friends – was hosted by Emma Wheate-Price who owns Amira Belly Jewels.

Emma holds two haflas-a-year for good causes.

She paid for a professional Turkish dancer from London to perform on the evening, along with dancers across the West Midlands.

Through ticket sales, a raffle, spin the wheel and generous donations £980 was raised in total.

Emma said: ” “It was important for me to support a charity where our money would make a difference, and during these cold winter months, Socks and Chocs need vital funds in order to continue their work of providing sleeping bags, gloves and other essential supplies.”

Socks and Chocs is a charity committed to helping the homeless.

At the event, Bromsgrove’s Socks and Chocs founder Ian Northcott BEM also got involved with a shimmy.

Emma added: “It makes me happy that through our passion for dance, we are able to come together to enjoy an evening of socialising and a great line-up of performances whilst also supporting a worthwhile cause.”
